Classic Solitaire for Android (com.fi.classic.solitaire)
This policy explains what Classic Solitaire collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the Android app only.
Classic Solitaire is published by Faiz Ikhwan (“we”, “us”), the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at me@faizikhwan.com.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or anything else that identifies you personally.
- Your game stays on your phone. The deal in progress and your settings are stored on the device and are never uploaded to us.
- We collect usage and crash data through Google Firebase, so we can see which features are used and fix what breaks. It is not linked to your name or any account.
- The app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID.
- We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone beyond the Google services listed below.
What the app stores on your device
The following never leaves your phone. It is written to the app's own private storage and is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data:
- the game currently in progress — card positions, move count and elapsed time, so you can close the app and pick up where you left off;
- your settings — draw mode, difficulty, sound and haptics;
- counters the app needs in order to behave sensibly, such as how many undos remain and how long it has been since an ad was last shown.
What is collected, and why
| Service | What it collects | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics for Firebase | App usage — that a game started or was won, which draw mode and difficulty were used, how long a game lasted, how many moves and undos it took, and which settings were changed. Alongside these, Google records a randomly generated app instance identifier, your device model, operating system version, language and approximate country, the last of which is derived from your IP address. Analytics does not collect your advertising ID. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the identifier is only stored if you consent; see below. | To understand how the game is actually played, and decide what to improve. The events describe gameplay, not you. |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash and error reports: the stack trace, the state of the device at the time (model, operating system version, memory and storage state, orientation), and a randomly generated installation identifier. | To find and fix crashes. Without this, a bug that only appears on your device is invisible to us. |
| Google AdMob | Your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and your interactions with the ads shown in the app. | To serve the ads that pay for the game, to limit how often you see the same one, and to detect fraudulent ad activity. |
We see this information only in aggregate, through the Firebase and AdMob dashboards. The identifiers involved are random and not tied to your name, email or any account, and we make no attempt to work out who you are.
Consent, and your choices
Ads are provided by Google AdMob. The app shows two kinds: an occasional full-screen ad between games, and an optional ad you can choose to watch in exchange for more undos. There are no ads during play.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form when you first open it, and asks for your consent before personalised advertising and before analytics stores an identifier on your device. Until you have answered, analytics runs with every consent denied. Your choice is remembered, and you can change it at any time from Menu → Settings → Privacy & ad consent inside the app. If you decline, the game still works in full: you will see non-personalised ads, and analytics sends only limited, cookieless event signals that carry no identifier and cannot be linked to your device.
Wherever you are, you can limit ad tracking from the device itself: open Settings → Google → Ads on your Android phone to delete or reset your advertising ID, or to opt out of ad personalisation altogether.
Legal basis for processing
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we rely on:
- Your consent for personalised advertising and for analytics, collected through the consent form described above and withdrawable at any time.
- Our legitimate interests for crash reporting and non-personalised advertising — specifically, keeping the app working and funding its development. These involve no information that identifies you by name and have a minimal effect on your privacy.
How long it is kept
- Analytics data is retained by Google for the period configured in our Firebase project, after which it is deleted automatically.
- Crash reports are retained for up to 90 days.
- Advertising data is handled under Google's own retention rules.
- Data on your device lasts until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
Children
Classic Solitaire is a general-audience card game. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California have the additional rights granted by the CCPA and CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Because the app collects nothing that identifies you by name, the most direct ways to exercise these rights are to reset your advertising ID, to change your consent choice in the app's settings, and to clear the app's data or uninstall it. If you would like us to act on a request, write to me@faizikhwan.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Third-party services
The services named above are operated by Google, and Google's own terms govern what it does with the data it receives:
- Google Privacy Policy
- Firebase Privacy and Security
- How AdMob uses data
- How Google uses data from sites and apps that use its services
Security
Data sent to Google's services travels over encrypted connections. Data stored on your device is held in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. No system is perfectly secure, but there is also very little here to protect: we hold nothing that identifies you by name.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes — a new category of data, or a new purpose for an existing one — will also be announced in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
